Here is an example of two old school CQC-6
folders.
While made in the same era there are many differences.
One is a
left hand grind, one is a right hand grind.
First a basic
photo of both knives. Notice the "correct grind"
CQC-6 has the clip on the
same side as the logo. This is
a rarity even among halfmoon
sixes.
Now on to the backspacers....
the correct grind six has a micarta
spacer while the other has a Titanium
back spacer. The TI backspacer
is also very rare.
The knife with the right hand grind has serrations on the
top scale
and the left hand ground does not. Also look at the difference
between
the cutouts for the thumb disk slot. Also a huge difference is the
top
swedge on the two different knives.
Look at the difference in the blade tips. The one with
the left hand grind
is much wider than the one with the right hand
grind.
Look at the deeper scallop on the
scale on the left hand grind
compared to the scallop on the right hand
grind.
And lastly, what surprised me the most is the thickness
of the blade steel.
I really don't know how best to measure the thickness but
my calipers show the thickness of the
left hand ground blade is 1.28 and the
thickness of the right hand blade is somewhat thinner at 1.12.
